Goa court sent summons to Arvind Kejriwal : A Goa court on Tuesday issued summons to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in an alleged case of violation of the model code of conduct. The court asked him to be present on November 29. The local unit of the Aam Aadmi Party said it has received the summons but is not aware of the details of the criminal case against the Delhi Chief Minister.
According to court sources, the case has been registered under the Representation of the People Act and section 171 (E) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to bribery. Judicial Magistrate First Class in Mapusa has issued this summons. AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar said he received the summons on Tuesday, just a day before Kejriwal was to appear in court.
“It seems the chargesheet was filed in 2018. We don’t know much details of the case,” he said. Palekar himself is a lawyer by profession. He said that he will appear in the court on Wednesday on behalf of Kejriwal. “We will obtain the documents and then decide on whether to challenge the proceedings in the High Court,” he said. AAP contested the Goa Assembly elections in 2017 and 2022. In 2017 it did not get any seat, whereas in 2022 it won two seats.
This summons to Kejriwal has come at a time when his party celebrated 11 years of its establishment just two days ago. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday greeted party workers on the occasion of its foundation day and recalled its journey of becoming a national party in 11 years.
Delhi Chief Minister said in a post on ‘X’, ‘On this day in the year 2012, the common man of the country stood up and established his own party ‘Aam Aadmi Party’. From then till today, there have been many ups and downs in these 11 years, many difficulties have also come, but there has been no decrease in the spirit and passion of all of us. ‘AAP’ is currently in power in Delhi and Punjab and is expanding its grassroots base in many other states.
