Good News : On the same day when the whole country was celebrating Diwali, 41 laborers got trapped inside the Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi. This tunnel is being built under the Chardham All Weather Road Project. Suddenly debris started falling inside the tunnel due to which the workers inside did not even get time to get out. Efforts to evacuate all of them were started from Sunday itself but the path was not so easy. Many agencies including NDRF, SDRF tried but did not succeed. After this, the American auger machine was brought to Uttarkashi but it also did not yield the expected results. Eventually all the workers were taken out through rat-hole mining.
On Tuesday, when the rescue mission was finally completed and the workers came out of the tunnel, the joy on their faces of getting life again and the feeling of breathing in the open air on the 17th day cannot be expressed in words. During this time some also became emotional. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who has been camping in Uttarkashi for the last few days, welcomed the laborers with garlands and shawls. Seeing the brave men safe, people clapped. Not only the families of the workers but the entire country was praying for their safety. Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari wrote on ‘X’, ‘I am feeling relieved and happy on the safe evacuation of 41 workers from Silkyara Tunnel.’
The families of the laborers were passing each day with great difficulty. Today he has got relief. Local people believe that the tunnel accident happened due to the wrath of Baba Boukhnath. Actually, the temple was removed to build the tunnel. This temple became a topic of discussion after the workers got trapped in the tunnel. A temporary temple of Baba Boukhnath has been built outside the tunnel. In which apart from the local people, CM Dhami also performed special puja and prayed for the safe exit of the workers. Foreign experts were also seen worshiping Baba.
Workers were evacuated through 800 mm pipe
All 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand for the last 16 days were rescued safely on Tuesday. Officials said the workers were pulled out one by one through 800 mm pipes that were drilled into the debris to create a path. On the 17th day, the rescue workers, who were carrying out operations on a war footing to rescue the workers trapped in the four and a half kilometer long Silkyara-Barkot tunnel under construction on the Chardham Yatra route, collapsed on November 12.
