Lok Sabha Security Breach: Delhi Police has got a big success in the case of breach in the security of Parliament. Police have arrested Lalit Jha, considered the mastermind of this case.
Lok Sabha Security Breach: Uproar continues over the breach in Parliament security. The opposition is demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the matter. Meanwhile, 13 MPs from Lok Sabha and one from Rajya Sabha were suspended from the winter session. On the aggressive stance of the opposition, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said that this is not a political matter.
On the other hand, Delhi Police arrested the sixth accused and Lalit Jha, considered the main conspirator, at around 10.30 pm. According to news agency ANI, the police said that Lalit Jha himself had reached the police station and we are interrogating him.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police presented accused Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Shinde and Neelam in the court in the case. During this time, the police sought 15 days’ custody of the accused from the court, but the court gave their remand for seven days. Among these, the people who jumped on the sitting place of MPs in the Lok Sabha and smoked through cans are Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma. Amol Shinde and Neelam are going to raise slogans and spread smoke from cans in the campus. The fifth accused Vicky is in police custody.
What argument was given in the court?
Police told the court that the case of Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Shinde and Neelam breaching the security of Parliament is like a terrorist activity. Police said that we have registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides the anti-terrorism law Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
Police said, “He was to be confined to the audience gallery. They jumped into the well from the spectators’ gallery, which was trespassing. He had hidden the (smoke) can in his shoes.” In such a situation, 15 days are needed for interrogation, then the lawyer of the accused said that five days is enough.
PM Modi gave instructions
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed the Union Ministers not to get involved in politics regarding the matter. Sources told ABP News that PM Modi told the ministers that the matter is very serious.
Opposition continues to attack
Opposition members in the Lok Sabha demanded a response from the government on the matter and said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah should make a statement inside the House. Due to this there was an uproar. In view of this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 11 am on Friday after two adjournments.
What did the government say?
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on the opposition’s attack, “We all agree that yesterday’s unfortunate incident was a serious lapse in the security of Lok Sabha members.” Joshi further said that we have to work above party politics.
Thirteen opposition members were suspended for the remaining period of the current winter session for contempt of seat in the House. It includes Congress’s TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, Jotimani, Ramya Haridas, Dean Kuriakose, VK Srikandan, Benny Behanan, Mohammad Javed and Manickam Tagore. DMK’s Kanimozhi, CPI(M)’s S Vektion and CPI’s K. This is Subbarayan. Meanwhile, TMC member Derek O’Brien has been suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the current winter session for indecent conduct.
Mallikarjun Kharge raised questions
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge targeted the government over the suspension of opposition MPs. Kharge wrote on social media platform Suspending opposition MPs from Parliament is suspension of democracy.
He said, “What is their crime? Is it a crime to request the Union Home Minister to make a statement in the House? Is it a crime to discuss a dangerous security breach? Does this not highlight that aspect of dictatorship which is the hallmark of the present system?”

Eight Delhi Police personnel suspended
According to sources obtained by ABP News, eight Delhi Police personnel have been suspended for negligence in checking media persons and people for the security of Parliament House. News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the suspended personnel have been identified as Rampal, Arvind, Veer Das, Ganesh, Anil, Pradeep, Vimit and Narendra.
