POCSO Case :In the POCSO i.e. Protection of Children from Sexual Abuse case, the victim’s mother had to face legal action. The matter is of Kerala. The allegations were that the woman had given permission to rape her lover’s minor daughter. The court has sentenced the woman to 40 years of jail, a fine of Rs 20,000 and 6 months of rigorous imprisonment.
The allegations were that the woman had helped her live-in partner in raping a then 7-year-old girl. Thiruvananthapuram Special Fast Track Court has also described the woman as a ‘stigma in the name of motherhood’. He also said that he did not deserve mercy and supported greater punishment. The special thing is that if the woman is unable to pay the fine amount, she will have to remain in jail for 6 more months.
what was the matter
The incident occurred between March 2018 and September 2019. The convicted woman was living separately from her mentally ill husband at that time. She was living with her male friend Shishupalan, who was the main accused in this case. A 7 year old daughter also lived with him. The court found that Shishupalan had raped the girl, due to which she had suffered serious injuries.
It is reported that Shishupalan also carried out sexual violence several times between 2018 and 2019 with the connivance of the victim’s mother. Not only this, the accused also victimized the victim’s 11-year-old step sister. Both the children were threatened not to tell this to anyone. However, both the girls later ran away and reached their grandmother’s house.
As soon as the grandmother heard about the incident, she sent the girls to the children’s home, where both of them told about the cruelty that happened to them. Shishupalan had already committed suicide.
