Updates on Prime Minister Modi’s Varanasi visit: The head of the Indian government will grace his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on December 17 and 18, unveiling an array of developmental endeavors.
The Prime Minister’s Office has articulated that Modi will inaugurate the avant-garde integrated terminal facility at Surat airport and the Surat Diamond Bourse on the preceding Sunday. Subsequently, he will traverse to Varanasi to partake in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
Expressing his anticipation, Modi conveyed on social media, “Tomorrow evening onwards, I will be among my sisters and brothers of Kashi. I will take part in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and later will inaugurate the @KTSangamam, a landmark forum that celebrates our unique cultural traditions and diversity,” on Saturday.
Key facets of PM Modi’s Varanasi visit on December 17, 18: In alignment with his vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ PM Modi, during Sunday evening, will unveil the second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 at the Namo ghat.
Departing from Chennai on December 15, the initial contingent of the Tamil delegation is expected to include approximately 1,400 individuals, organized into seven groups of 200 persons each, representing diverse vocations from various parts of Tamil Nadu. Their itinerary encompasses visits to Prayagraj and Ayodhya during their sojourn in Kashi.
On Monday, Modi is slated to inaugurate the Swarved Mahamandir at a public event, addressing the devotees gathered for the occasion, as per the Prime Minister’s Office.
Continuing his schedule, Modi will partake in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Sewapuri, a rustic area within his constituency. Furthermore, he will witness live sports events featuring participants from the Kashi Sansad Khel Pratiyogita 2023.
Scheduled for inauguration and foundation stone laying are multiple developmental projects in Varanasi, collectively valued at over ₹19,150 crore. Among them, the New Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar-New Bhaupur Dedicated Freight Corridor Project, constructed at an estimated cost of around ₹10,900 crore, will be inaugurated by Modi.
Additional railway initiatives to be unveiled include the Ballia-Ghazipur City rail line doubling project, the Indara-Dohrighat rail line gauge conversion project, and others. Notably, the prime minister will flag off the Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express train, Dohrighat-Mau MEMU train, and a pair of Long Haul goods trains on the newly inaugurated Dedicated Freight Corridor. Furthermore, he will ceremoniously flag off the 10,000th locomotive crafted by Banaras Locomotive Works.
In addition, Modi will inaugurate a green-field Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara road, accompanied by two ROBs, at an expenditure exceeding ₹370 crore. This infrastructure is anticipated to alleviate traffic flow between the northern and southern sectors of Varanasi city, enhancing the convenience for visitors.
The prime minister will also, as part of the inaugural ceremony, lay the foundation stone for various projects surpassing Rs. 6500 crore, including two multi-storey barrack buildings (200 and 150 beds) for police personnel, strategically located smart bus shelters, and a 132 KW substation at Alaipur, catering to the housing and operational needs of the police force.
