The Election Commission has kept the process of filing nominations till June 29. Rajnath Singh has also spoken to Congress’s Mallikarjun Kharge, Odisha Chief Minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik and Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav. The Defense Minister also spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. According to reports, Rajnath Singh is the NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and leaders of other political parties.
Farooq Abdullah’s name surfaced
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sharad Pawar on Wednesday at the Constitution Club of Delhi. In the meeting, it was agreed to forward the name of Sharad Pawar on behalf of the opposition parties. However, Sharad Pawar has made it clear that he will not be a candidate. After Pawar’s refusal, the opposition is looking for a new name.
The press conference was held after the meeting of the opposition. In this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that it will be good if Sharad Pawar himself agrees to his name. Otherwise the name of the combined candidate will be considered.
According to the information, the name of Farooq Abdullah was also discussed in the meeting. However, Omar Abdullah opposed his name. Umar said that his name should not be discussed in this. According to the information that is coming out, Mamta suggested two names in the meeting. Among them is Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the former Governor of West Bengal and the other name is Farooq Abdullah. But there was no discussion on these names. It is learned that the opposition leaders will meet again on June 21 to finalize the candidate.
Opposition will field joint candidate
In the meeting of the opposition, it has been decided that he will field a joint candidate. The opposition has agreed to field a strong candidate against the ruling BJP candidate. “In the upcoming presidential election, which is being held on the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, we have decided to field a common candidate who is in fact the custodian of the Constitution,” a statement after the meeting from the opposition said. and prevent the Modi government from causing further damage to Indian democracy and the social fabric of India.
Let us inform that the Election Commission has issued notification for the 16th Presidential election to be held on 18th July. As per the notification, nominations can be filed till June 29 and documents will be scrutinized on June 30. The last date to withdraw from the electoral fray is July 2. The elections will be held on July 18 and the counting of votes will take place on July 21.

The BJP-led central government along with the opposition party has also remained silent about its candidates. While the BJP is unlikely to re-nominate President Kovind for another term, speculations are rife about several other candidates.
