Tehreek-e-Insaf Party : He was elected to the post of president during the party’s national convention in Islamabad following the Pakistan Election Commission’s directive to hold the party’s internal elections by June 13.

Tehreek-e-Insaf Party : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was re-elected the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party on Wednesday. Two candidates who challenged Khan (69) for the post withdrew their names, following which he (Khan) was elected unopposed for the post of party president.

He was elected to the post of president during the party’s national convention in Islamabad following the Pakistan Election Commission’s directive to hold the party’s internal elections by June 13. Apart from Khan, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema and Naik Muhammad were the other two candidates for the post of party president.

Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been re-elected as the party’s vice-president, while former planning minister Asad Umar has been re-elected general secretary. After these elections, Khan addressed the workers and leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf at the party’s national council meeting, alleging that the current ruler was not doing anything without the approval of the US.

He also said that in a few days the date of the biggest demonstration in the history of Pakistan will be announced. He asked the party workers to get ready for this demonstration, which he called jihad for the nation.
