China Masters 2023: India’s star badminton player Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have entered the final of China Masters 2023. Satwik-Chirag will face the Chinese pair in the final.
China Masters 2023: India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty displayed aggressive play and entered the men’s doubles final of the China Masters Super 750 badminton tournament by defeating the Chinese pair of He Ji Ting and Ren Jiang Yu on Saturday. The Indian pair, who won their first BWF World Super 750 title at the French Open last year, registered a 21-15 22-20 win over the Chinese pair in the semi-final match that lasted 50 minutes. Satwik and Chirag will face another pair from China in the final. The second semi-final will be between China’s two pairs Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi and second seeds Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang.
Some attractive rallies were seen in the semi-final match. Both the pairs played aggressively but it was the Indian pair whose attack was stronger. The world number 50 pair of Hee and Ren, who won the Japan Masters title last week, played well in the second game but Satwik and Chirag made good use of their experience to prevent them from making a comeback.
Both these couples were facing each other for the first time. The Indian pair put the Chinese pair under pressure by leading 6-2 and then 10-4 in the first game. The pair of Satwik and Chirag were ahead 11-6 even till the interval.
After this, the Chinese pair made a comeback and reduced the score to 10-12, but after this, the Indian pair showed excellent play and scored six consecutive points to take a strong lead of 18-10. After this he secured seven game points and won the first game on the third chance.
In the second game also, both the teams played brilliantly but at one time the Chinese pair was ahead 4-3. Even after this, she maintained her lead and was leading 11-8 till the interval. Satwik and Chirag again displayed excellent performance and leveled the score at 13-13. The Indian pair continued to perform well even after this and took a two-point lead first at 18-16 and then at 19-17.
The Indian pair won the second match point when Rain’s shot hit the net. This year has been great for Satwik and Chirag. He won gold medals at the Asian Badminton Championships, Indonesia Super 1000, Korea Super 500, Swiss Super 300 and Asian Games this year.
