IND vs SA T20I Series: India won the last and decisive match of the three-match T20 series against South Africa by 106 runs.
IND vs SA T20I Series:In the T20 match being played against South Africa in Johannesburg, the Indian team registered a huge victory by 106 runs. Here, India batted first and scored a huge score of 201 runs losing 7 wickets, in reply the Proteas team got bundled out for just 95 runs.
It was a do or die match for Team India, which was trailing 0-1 in the three-match T20 series. By winning this last and decisive match of the series, the Indian team also leveled the series at 1-1.
Suryakumar Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav played important roles in India’s victory. Suryakumar Yadav scored a quick century and made the Indian team cross the 200 mark and later Kuldeep Yadav did not allow South Africa to cross 100 by taking 5 wickets.
A sharp start and then two consecutive shocks
In this match, Proteas captain Aidan Markram won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian opening pair made a bright start and scored 29 runs in the first two overs. On this score, Shubhman Gill (12) was sent to the pavilion by Keshav Maharaj. On the very next ball, Maharaj also dismissed Tilak Verma (0).
After the fall of two wickets for 29 runs in 2.3 overs, Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal made the Indian innings fly by making a brilliant partnership of 112 runs in 69 balls. When the score reached 141 in the 14th over, Yashasvi was out. He scored 60 runs on 41 balls.
Captain’s stormy innings
After Yashasvi returned to the pavilion, Surya along with Rinku Singh took the innings forward. There was a partnership of 47 runs between the two on 27 balls. Here Rinku Singh was out after scoring 14 runs on 10 balls. Right after this, Suryakumar Yadav completed his century on 55 balls and he also left on the 56th ball. He hit 8 sixes in his innings.
Surya was out in the last over and in the same over Ravindra Jadeja (4) and Jitesh Sharma (4) also went out. The Indian team scored 201 runs by losing 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Here Keshav Maharaj and Lizard Williams took 2-2 wickets for South Africa. Nandre Berger and Tabrez Shamsi took one wicket each.
Bad start for South Africa
The South African team, which came to chase the target of 202 runs, had a bad start. Matthew Breitzke (4) was bowled by Mukesh Kumar on a total of four runs. The score had just reached 23 runs when Reeza Hendricks (8) also got run out and walked away. After this, the Proteas team suffered two big setbacks on a total of 42. Captain Markram (25) became the victim of Jadeja and Klaasen (5) was sent to the pavilion by Arshdeep.
Miller continued to struggle alone
After this the South African team could not make a comeback. David Miller tried to hold one end while playing an inning of 35 runs in 25 balls but it was insufficient. Among the remaining batsmen, only Donovan Ferreira (12) could touch double figures. All the other batsmen were either out after scoring one run or returned to the pavilion on zero.
Kuldeep’s 5 wickets
Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets, Mukesh and Arshdeep took one wicket each. Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc. He took 5 wickets while giving 17 runs in 2.5 overs. In the end, he defeated the Proteas team by taking three wickets in 5 balls. Suryakumar Yadav received the ‘Player of the Match’ award of this match.
