Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and death overs specialist Harshal Patel have returned to India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia starting October 16 after recovering from injuries. In this World Cup, India will play its first match against Pakistan on 23rd October at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Bumrah had a back injury while Harshal had a muscle strain. The two underwent ‘rehabilitation’ at the National Cricket Academy and were declared fit by the BCCI medical team. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi, however, missed out on a place in the 15-man World Cup squad. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was preferred over Bishnoi.

After the return of Harshal in the team, there is no room for passion anyway. Avesh has been very expensive in the last overs. During this, he has conceded runs at the rate of 18 runs per over (in the last overs). India’s group in the World Cup will have teams from Pakistan, South Africa and possibly Sri Lanka (if they win the qualifiers). Looking at the left-handed batsmen in all these teams, Ashwin’s role can be important. Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami, however, managed to make a comeback in the T20 team.
