It’s worth noting that although Giambruno and Meloni were not married, they had been in a relationship for nearly a decade, and they share a seven-year-old daughter.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, on Friday, made a public announcement about parting ways with her long-time boyfriend, the television journalist Andrea Giambruno. This decision came in the wake of growing controversy surrounding Giambruno’s on-air remarks, which were widely criticized for their sexist nature.
The couple, Giorgia Meloni and Andrea Giambruno, although not married, had been in a relationship for nearly a decade and share a seven-year-old daughter. Meloni took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her sentiments, stating, “My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost 10 years, ends here. Our paths have diverged for some time, and the time has come to acknowledge it.” She continued, “I will defend what we were, I will defend our friendship, and I will defend, at all costs, a seven-year-old girl who loves her mother and loves her father, as I was unable to love mine. I have nothing else to say about this.”
Giambruno, who hosts the show “Diario del Giorno” on Mediaset, a part of the MFE media group, faced severe backlash when off-air recordings from his program revealed him using offensive language and making inappropriate advances towards a female colleague. In August, he faced widespread criticism for seemingly placing blame on victims in a rape case, suggesting that women could prevent rape by avoiding excessive alcohol consumption. He commented during his program, “If you go dancing, you have every right to get drunk – there shouldn’t be any kind of misunderstanding and any kind of problem – but if you avoid getting drunk and losing your senses, you might also avoid running into certain problems and coming across a wolf.”
However, Giorgia Meloni clarified that she should not be held responsible for the comments made by her partner. She also stated that she would refrain from addressing questions related to his behavior in the future.
Meloni and Giambruno first crossed paths in 2015 when he was working as a writer for a TV show on which Meloni appeared.
