Miss Universe 2023 : In a momentous event held at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador, Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios emerged triumphant, clinching the prestigious Miss Universe 2023 title. This victory marked a historic achievement as she surpassed the formidable competition, notably India’s Shweta Sharda.

The crowning moment unfolded on the grand stage, with the incumbent Miss Universe 2022, USA’s R’Bonney Gabriel, passing the crown to Sheynnis Palacios, thus making her the first Nicaraguan woman to be adorned with the Miss Universe accolade this year.

The 72nd Miss Universe pageant unfolded its splendor in El Salvador, attracting participants from a multitude of nations, each vying for the revered crown.

Shweta Sharda, a 23-year-old luminary, secured her position in the Miss Universe 2023 semifinals after achieving the Miss Diva Universe 2023 title in August of the same year. As the representative of India, she successfully advanced to the semi-finals of this prestigious competition.

Expressing her sentiments after winning the Miss Diva India pageant, Shweta conveyed, “A profound sense of satisfaction and exhilaration accompanies the triumph in the Miss Diva India pageant. The realization of a long-held dream is indescribable. I am immensely thankful and enthusiastic about the forthcoming journey, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to bring the Miss Universe Crown back to India. This is a momentous aspiration that I am determined to fulfill, making my nation and family proud.”

Hailing from Chandigarh, Shweta made the courageous decision to relocate to Mumbai at the age of 16, driven by her ardent pursuit of dreams. Her prowess in the realm of dance is noteworthy, having showcased her talents in acclaimed shows such as ‘DID,’ ‘Dance Deewane,’ and ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja.’

India boasts a legacy of Miss Universe triumphs, with three illustrious women, Sushmita Sen in 1994, Lara Dutta in 2000, and Harnaz Sandhu in 2022, preceding Shweta in securing the coveted Miss Universe crown.
