When is Veterans Day : On Saturday, November 11, at 11 a.m., Veterans of Foreign Wars Downriver Post 7487 will commemorate the 69th Veterans Day at Academy Park in the Village of Lewiston.
When is Veterans Day : Originally designated as Armistice Day to mark the conclusion of World War I, the holiday underwent a transformation in 1954. Thanks to the efforts of World War II veteran Raymond Weeks, it was renamed Veterans Day. This day now serves as a tribute to all veterans from every war and era, whether they are from the past, the present, or the future, and whether they are living or have passed on. Veterans Day is a day to celebrate and express gratitude.
On this 69th Veterans Day, we invite you to gather with us at the ‘Circle of Honor’ monument in Academy Park. Together, we will express our appreciation, not only for those who are no longer with us but also for those who are still among us.
